Morgan Log House
Located less than 10 minutes from our community, the carefully and accurately restored Morgan Log House gives visitors insight into Pennsylvania life circa 1708. Located on land that was originally owned by Daniel Boone’s maternal grandparents, Edward and Elizabeth Morgan, this homestead is filled with furniture, clothing and accessories from PA’s Colonial period. Please note: The only way to see the inside of the house is during a guided tour, so book one and be prepared to learn everything there is to know about the life of Colonial PA settlers.
Hatfield Museum & History Society
Dedicated to preserving the rich and diverse history of the surrounding area, the Hatfield Museum & History Society collects, preserves and showcases a wide variety of rare books, documents, photographs and memorabilia related to community. The recently opened new Hatfield Museum covers the various phases of area history including the original settlement by the Lenape Indians, the introduction of the railroad, the many businesses that operated in the community over the years, and so much more. Visitors can also purchase books, DVDs and collectibles to continue the history lesson at home. Like many other museums in our area, the Hatfield Museum is only open to the public by appointment only at this time. This could change soon, so be sure to contact a representative before you visit.
Hatfield Auto Museum
Filled with antique, classic and one-of-a-kind cars are your passion, the Hatfield Auto Museum is the perfect place for anyone who is passionate about the history and evolution of the automobile! Originally a 100-year old car dealership showroom, this anything-but-average museum features one floor dedicated to antique, rare and classic cars (and car-related collectibles) and another floor where classic car owners can safely store their prized possessions in a climate-controlled and secure environment. Located just off of the Lansdale exit of the Northeast Extension, the museum is available for tours by appointment only. So be sure to call ahead to plan your trip!
Peter Wentz Farmstead Society
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Peter Wentz Farmstead is a stone house with architectural and aesthetic elements that reflect the German heritage of some of PA’s earliest settlers. Built nearly three centuries ago, this farmstead plays a significant part in our state and our country’s history as it served as General George Washington’s headquarters during the infamous Battle of Germantown on October 4, 1777. The restored site now appears just as it did during the American Revolution, so a visit here truly takes you back. Be sure to save time for the gift shop, in which you’ll find an old-style loom that you can actually use to make your own custom creation.
The Stoogeum
Known for their over-the-top, slapstick comedy, The Three Stooges are iconic entertainers that left a lasting legacy and still influence pop culture to this day. Located in neighboring Ambler, PA, The Stoogeum is home to more than 100,000 pieces of rare Stooges memorabilia piled into its 10,000-square-foot building! In addition to the amazing collection of props, posters, costumes and other Stooge-related artifacts, this one-of-a-kind museum also includes a mini-movie theater where you can catch special screenings of their most famous short films. Best of all, The Stoogeum is only a 15-minute drive from Heritage House! Currently, The Stoogeum is operating an on appointment-only schedule.
